Networking Direction Finders
Doppler Direction finder sites may be networked in a variety of ways including
- Internet or intranet
- Cellular modem (air card)
- Dialup or leased line telephone modem
- Radio Modem
- Direct serial connection
All of these networking options are available simultaneously. For instance you could form a network with a fixed site connected via the Internet, a mobile site connected using a radio modem, and another fixed site connected to the computer using a RS-232 serial connection. Additionally if a computer is installed at a site, each computer on the network will display the data from all the other sites on the network. Using this feature, a mobile site can display its data and data from any number of fixed sites on the network. An example network is illustrated below. If a local area network is used, the router at the control site would be replaced by a network switch and the routers at the remote sites eliminated. More detailed information on networking is available in the Networking and SignalTrack manuals.
