Series 7000 Radio Direction Finding System
Features Description Specifications Antennas Mobile

Fixed Site Antennas

Antennas are available either as single band arrays, dual band (UHF over VHF) or triple band (THF over UHF over VHF) stacked arrays. Each array consists of 8 biconical dipoles at the end of the arms and balun connected for high radiation efficiency over the entire octave wide band. Connectors used are TNC for the RF and MIL-C-38999 Series 3 for the control. Masts, connecting cables between stacked arrays and clamping hardware are provided for each of the fixed site antenna arrays available. Masts are constructed of fibreglass and cables are ferrite isolated in order to minimize interaction with the active elements in the array. Cable sets between the antenna and the processor/receiver are available in multiples of 25 feet up to 200 feet and include ferrite isolators.

Antennas are factory calibrated to provide the accuracy figures listed below. Overall size and weight are also listed below. These are for the antenna arrays themselves and do not include the masts and cables.

Model  Freq Range (MHz) Accuracy (RMS) Weight (lbs) Overall Diameter (inches) Overall Height (inches)
DDF7091  125 - 250  VHF 1 deg 13.6 39 40
DDF7092  250 - 500  UHF 1 deg 8.6  17 16
DDF7093  500 - 1000  THF 1.5 deg 8.2 9.5 6.5

VHF Antenna (125-250 MHz)                                               UHF Antenna (250-500 MHz)

          THF Antenna (500 MHz - 1000 MHz)

A supporting mast and clamp is supplied with each antenna. The overall length of this mast is 36 inches and its diameter at the base is 1.25 inches. The mounting clamps can accommodate attachment to a mounting pole having an outer diameter between 1.25 and 3.5 inches.

Sensitivity of each antenna varies across the bandwidth, but as shown below, it closely follows that of a lossless continuously resonant (LCR) dipole (one that is resonant and perfectly matched at every frequency).

The UHF/VHF and THF/UHF/VHF stacked arrays are shown below. The mast which connects the UHF and VHF antenna is 33.5 inches long and mast connecting THF and UHF antennas is 13.5 inches long.
